Sassafras is known for its distinct smell and of course for the tea Grandma used to say is good for you, but I never thought of it as a turning wood - that is, until I saw these three pieces turned by Pat Connell. Sassafras has, as you can see, great color. The bark-edge really sets it apart with its contrast. Pat also turned the Dogwood bowl in the center.
