The Jane Saylors Wood Turning Scholarship |
|
The Jane Saylors Wood Turning Scholarship
Like many wood turners, Jane Saylors began by building furniture. Then she saw Rude Olsolnik turning wood at the Atlanta Woodworkers Show in 1983.
She has been a wood turner ever since. Jane pioneered in the laced edged bowl design, where she brought to the art form a fresh new approach.
In the last few years her health has declined and she can no longer pursue her art form. To honor her learning and teaching spirit and to inspire
other artists to follow in her footsteps, The Black Warrior Turning School has a scholarship fund in her honor Jane Saylors-The Jane Saylors Wood
Turning Scholarship. To encourage and advance woodturning in Alabama, the Jane Saylors Wood Turning Scholarship is a fund that will award
scholarships for turning classes at the Black Warrior Studio and Gallery, (a non-profit organization). All funds collected, either monies or
gifts in kind, will be applied toward woodturning class scholarships. ALL FUNDS CONTRIBUTED ARE TAX DEDUCTABLE. One hundred percent (100%) of your
donation goes for the scholarship fund. If you would like to join us in this tribute, please note the following information. Checks can be made out
to: Black Warrior Turners (Jane Saylors Scholarship fund) C/O Black Warrior Studio and Gallery 4509 Woodland Hills Dr. Tuscaloosa, Al 35405.
